No new Port 😔 the Port from CRT 7900 or CRT 8900 V new Radio this Port in the Ranger for SSB better and stable !
They’re people getting 80+ watts out of these little radios on AM - (mine does, checked on 3 different birds) GREAT RADIO - but the mic is trash - get the adapter and use your mic of choice. 👍🏻

That's what I need done to my Rci 2970n2 converted to an n4. Bigger heat sink in the back. Fan on the back and the new top cover with its openings to keep it cooler.
my Texas star has just died! can't get these here in the uk which is a damn shame
I was wondering is it normal for the top cover to get reall warm after about 20 minutes of on and off talk time. Bottom heat sink runs cold because of an external fan.

Yes it has 4x Pills so it will handle the extra peak power well. Still have to keep the carrier low.

This is the same as the general hp 40w
my buddy just bought one of these. is the clarifier unlocked? his is off freq and the power cord is funky if you jiggle it the power fluctuates . its got 4 tiny black wires going into the molex. I feel he got ripped off. he paid alot of money for a galaxy radio pretty much.

Hey! Quick question - I am nearly done setting up by CB Base station. I have a Solarcon A99 out back, connected with about 80' of RG 213 cable into my Uniden President Washington in the house. I am finally securing / setting up the antenna this weekend, and just was curious of a 'best practice' to calibrate things? Can I do so with just those elements (there is a SWR meter on the President Washington), or, should I get a separate SWR meter when initially dialing my setup in? I'm TOTALLY new to all of this.
In your case the radios meter will do just fine. An A-99 is going to be very wide banded and have low SWR all over anyway, your radios meter will just verify nothing is BAD, like an idiot light on the dash.

What's the benefit of having the antennae on the camper and the truck?
When he was at the campground the Camper antenna was much higher and the range was improved.

@@BellsCB I've got a 2006 F450 and the place you've got the antennae doesn't really exist (it's a grate). And I got a magnet mount so that's not going to work. What happens if you install 102" on the camper roof at a 30 degree angle back? Will it work the same or does it have to be pointing straight up? My camper is already at 12ft at the air conditioner but with the antennae at that angle it won't be much higher than the AC.

Not sure what you did there but those normally have almost no harmonics, so that 2nd you showed is not normal. That changed capacitor could be the problem. Also, IH and IL are not the correct menus for SSB. Be careful in there!
I will check your concerns on the next unit I do. Same cap on many similar chassis don't cause this. I didn't "invent" the cap mod it was in a Factory published update for a similar model.
@@BellsCB all good. Have a look at the BL an BH settings for SSB. Also be very careful around some items like the S Meter settings. Users without test equipment will not be able to restore the correct values without test equipment if they accidentally change them. I hope that helps.
Checked the spectrum on a new unit and it was the same, the cap change did nothing on the spectrum. 10-4 on the other settings BL and BH for SSB
